Minimum age

Guests must be at least 8 years old to ride with us

We generally book groups with a maximum of 5 riders, but can accommodate groups of up 12 guests

Cancellation

You can cancel your ride up to 48 hours prior to your ride with no penalty.

  • Check the local weather forecast so you are prepared for your activity. Note that weather in the Foothills can change quickly
  • You should arrive at the ranch approximately 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ride time in order to check in at the office (“Ranch HQ”). Guests arriving late risk exclusion from the ride (no refunds).

Prepare to be outside for the duration of your experience

  • FOOTWEAR
    • Comfortable, sturdy, closed-toed and firm-soled shoes or boots, ideally with a small heel (no more than 1 inch)
    • For short rides running shoes will suffice, but riding or hiking boots are strongly suggested
    • Footwear should be well-fitting and comfortable enough to walk short to moderate distances in
    • Absolutely no sandals, flip flops, crocs, etc
  • PANTS
    • Long, durable pants such as jeans
    • Guests are not permitted to ride in shorts
  • CLOTHING
    • Layers appropriate for the forecasted weather. We suggest packing an extra layer, especially for longer rides.
    • Rain gear, if applicable. no ponchos or thin plastic material
  • HAT
    • A ball cap or brimmed hat with a snug fit
    • We encourage the use of riding helmets (offered at no extra fee) for all riders – anyone under the age of 18 MUST wear a riding helmet
  • OTHER
    •  Sunscreen is highly recommended all months of the year.
    • Insect repellent is typically not needed
    • a leak-proof water bottle (for rides 3 hours and longer)

Note that backpacks, purses, shoulder bags, and other similar items are not permitted on the trail.  Fanny packs (around a waist) are an ideal way to carry a cell phone and/or personal items with you.  We can also offer saddle bags for any personal items that you might need to carry with you (ie. water bottle, camera, cell phone, emergency medicine).

    • we suggest packing an extra layer, especially for longer rides
  • HAT
    • a toque or warm hat with a. good fit
    • We encourage the use of riding helmets (offered at no extra fee) for all riders – anyone under the age of 18 MUST wear a riding helmet
  • OTHER
    • Warm gloves – no mittens please (you can’t hold the reins properly) – consider hand warmers for cooler days of if you become cold easily
    • Sunscreen is highly recommended all months of the year
    • a leak-proof water bottle (for rides 3 hours and longer)

    • please check ride descriptions for suitability
  • The number of children under 10 years of age in the same ride is limited
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or over) on the ride
  • Children may not ride on the horse with an adult – each person must ride single on their own horse
  • Nervous or inexperienced children may be led by a guide
  • Guests under 18 years of age must wear helmets
    • We provide riding helmets at no extra charge
    • You are welcome to bring your own certified equestrian helmet
  • A LEGAL parent/guardian MUST complete a waiver for participants under 18 years old
    • If you are accompanying a child but are not the guardian (ie. a friend of your child, grandchild), you must have the LEGAL GUARDIAN sign the waiver form BEFORE arriving at the ranch.
  • You can find us at “Moose Mountain Horseback Adventures” on Google and Apple Maps
    • Note that older GPS systems may not recognize our correct location
  • There is no public transport to the ranch
    • If you are from out of town or don’t own a car you can rent a vehicle or take a taxi/cab/ride-share service
  • We encourage carpooling if possible due to limited parking space available at the ranch and to limit pollution in general
  • There is a small parking lot to your left (beside the riding arena) as you come down our driveway

Map & Directions

  • Plan to arrive at the ranch 15 minutes before your ride start time
  • Check in at “Ranch Headquarters” (the office) in the main building
  • You will need to complete a waiver when you arrive.
    • A LEGAL parent/guardian MUST complete a waiver for participants under 18 years old.  
    • If you are accompanying a child but are not the guardian (ie. a friend of your child, grandchild), you must have the LEGAL GUARDIAN sign the waiver form BEFORE arriving at the ranch.
  • Helmets are strongly recommended for all riders and are provided at no extra cost, however they are only mandatory for guests under 18 years of age.  Guests are welcome to bring their own certified equestrian helmet.
  • All rides include an experienced and knowledgeable guide, an introduction/orientation, and a photo opportunity.

  • For everyone’s safety, we expect that guests can understand instructions and have basic communication skills in English
  • Nervous, young, or inexperienced children may be led by a guide 
  • Due to safety concerns, please do not book if you are pregnant
  • It is possible (but not guaranteed) to encounter wildlife while on the trail – we take all necessary precautions to avoid conflict
  • The ranch (and most of our trails) exist outside of cellular service – please plan accordingly 
  • Gratuities are never expected but always appreciated.  If you would like to tip your guide(s) you can give cash directly to them, or use debit or credit in the office.
  • You can cancel your reservation with no penalty up to 48 hours prior to your ride.  
    • With less than 48 hours notice we will charge a cancellation fee of 30% of the reservation total.  
    • If you fail to appear or cancel same day as your ride the entire amount of the ride will be forfeit.

    • We try to accommodate as best as we can, but guests arriving late risk exclusion from the ride (no refunds)
  • Sometimes the weather is less than ideal.  As long as it is safe to be outside we will proceed with scheduled rides.
    • If the conditions for a planned ride become hazardous we may need to cancel or postpone. This can include heavy rainfalls, cold temperatures (-15C or lower), hot temperatures (35C or higher), high winds, slippery trail conditions, smoke/poor air quality, or threatening thunderstorms.  
    • We will make a decision on cancelling a ride based on the length of the ride, the territory we plan to ride in, and the experience level of the riders. 
    • We aim to inform you about a cancelled ride as early as possible.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

In order to make your experience comfortable, enjoyable, and safe, we ask that you review the information provided here. This is a substantial amount of information, so please take your time to review. As always, let us know if you have any questions.

YOUR RESERVATION
  • all rides must be booked in advance
    • during peak season we recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks prior
  • We require a minimum of 2 guests to operate a ride
    • If you are a single rider you are welcome to make a reservation; we will do our best to add guests to ensure the minimum, however, we may also ask you to join a different ride with existing reservations
  • We reserve horses and guides just for you! Any
    • changes to your booking must be communicated to us a minimum of 48 hours prior to your ride
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule the activity for any reason, or if you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel your RIDE up to 48 hours prior to your ride.

less than 48 hrs prior we will charge a 30% cancellation fee (30% of the total of the booked ride)

If you fail to appear at all without giving us notice, or cancel same day as your ride,

the entire amount of the ride will be charged.
